We have a fantastic opportunity for Permanent Highways Maintenance Operatives to join our Staffordshire Account in Stafford at our Lichfield Depot. Our Stafford Account has been working with Staffordshire County Council since 2014 to manage and maintain the county's highways infrastructure. We take pride in delivering exceptional infrastructure services across 6,000KM of Staffordshire, ensuring roads, cycle routes, bridges, tunnels, lighting, drainage, traffic signals, trees, and land are well-maintained to enhance the lives of local residents and communities. A Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils work, litter picking, etc., as well as undertaking winter emergency call out and standby. The standard hours of work are

40 hours across 5 days (0800-1645). You will be responsible for: Performing various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance. Attending work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills. Participating in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance. Allocating and tracking time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system. Keeping accurate records and completing all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
