Location/Division Specific Information:
Part of the Laboratory Products Division, the Newport site manufactures a range of laboratory consumables. The products are used within research, diagnostics, production and clinical settings.
How Will You Make an Impact?:
Within this position, we are seeking a self-motivated and hard-working colleague that will be responsible for the running and upkeep of machinery and equipment.
A Day in the Life:
Maintain all equipment in a safe and reliable condition.
Carry out any mechanical and/or electrical work within the factory including any work as may be required in any value stream unit.
Assist in the training of other Production Technicians and attend any training courses.
Ensure safe working practices at all times and follow department rules and regulations.
Set equipment to required standards to acquire optimum conditions to achieve cycle times and quality standards.
Raise appropriately any occurrence or foreseeable occurrence likely to cause a breakdown.
Ensure that all relevant procedures are carried out in accordance with company conformance to ISO 9001.
Education:
High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent.
Experience:
Required: Minimum of
2 years of injection moulding plastic processing
operation, production, lab setting or related field
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment or other highly regulated environment
Preferred: Experience working in a clean room environment
Preferred: Experience testing electromechanical systems
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
For an Electrical Bias Technician:
Experience of automation / assembly equipment.
Servo control systems & programming.
The use of computer aided diagnostic equipment for fault location & elimination.
Plastics machinery experience, electronics & control systems.
For a Mechanical Bias Technician:
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and fabrication abilities and skills.
Schematics, data & technical drawing knowledge.
Basic electrical proficiency.
