Mechanical Engineering Technician - Job Ref N006/01/2025

The Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) is responsible for the inspection, diagnostics, planned maintenance, emergency repair, bodywork, coach building, and modification to all vehicles and equipment within the NIFRS fleet of vehicles and operational equipment. The MET will be expected to work across differing trade disciplines in carrying out their role.

Hours of Work: Currently 36¼ hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. A Flexible Working Hours Scheme is in operation. In view of the level of this appointment, the post holder will be required to work in such a way as to fulfil the obligations of the post.

Posts Available: There is currently one permanent post and three fixed-term posts (for a duration of three years). Posts are based at NIFRS Service Support Centre, 99 Boucher Crescent, Belfast, BT12 6HU. This recruitment and selection process will also be used to fill future vacancies; a reserve list will be created for 12 months should any additional permanent or fixed-term vacancies arise (offers of posts will be made in merit order).

Salary: The salary is SO2. The salary range is currently £36,124 - £37,938 per annum.
