I'm looking for a Mechanical Designer to join BAE Systems in Barrow, working on the Submarines programme as part of the Mechanical Design team.
What you will be doing: You will be directly supporting our World Class Submarines by producing 3D models of either Pipe routes, HVAC systems or mechanical compartment arrangements using the CAD toolset. Your responsibilities will also include producing 2D drawings and electronic data and BoM item development to a fast-paced schedule to support manufacturing, installation and testing of our products. Develop and maintain close working relationships with other Design team members and Stakeholders who are working towards the same common goal. Working as a team to produce an Integrated Design that meets our client's expectations and agreed set of requirements. Your skills and experiences: Understanding of CAD toolsets and techniques e.g. Foran, SolidWorks and Siemens NX etc. in both 2D (Diagrams) and 3D outputs (drawings and models). HNC/ONC level or degree qualification in relevant STEM subject or equivalent work experience. Understanding of mechanical routed systems at both 2D and 3D level in either piping or HVAC design. Experience in Mechanical Compartment Integration/Room Integration and/or Engineering Standards at Component/Equipment level. This would suit someone with 1-2 years experience that is looking to get in with the leading Defence business in the UK. The salary is £35,000 to £40,000 plus an excellent benefits package. You MUST be eligible for SC Clearance to be considered for this position.
