Machine Shop Supervisor Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Lathe Operator / Vertical Borer to join our precision manual machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality flanges from a variety of materials, working to a tolerance of 1mm. This role requires proficiency in operating manual lathes and vertical borers, as well as a solid understanding of using all types of measuring equipment to ensure precision and quality. Key Responsibilities: Operate manual lathes and vertical boring machines to produce flanges according to technical drawings and specifications. Work with a variety of materials. Machine components to a tolerance of 1mm. Interpret technical drawings and accurately translate them into finished components. Perform quality checks using all necessary measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Maintain and care for the machines, ensuring optimal operation and cleanliness. Adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines and quality standards. Qualifications and Skills: Essential: Proven experience in operating manual lathes and/or vertical borers. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Proficiency in using a range of measuring equipment to check tolerances and dimensions. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Solid understanding of machining processes and materials. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Desirable: Experience working with one-off or small-batch production. Familiarity with producing components for precision engineering industries such as automotive or tooling.
