Assist the Distribution manager to ensure the fleet meets the ongoing requirements of current and new business (e.g. size of vehicles, vehicles maintenance and minimum legal requirements). Ensure contracts are kept up to date for both leased vehicles and third-party delivery service providers. Fleet management (compliance):
Ensure that working practices on both the highway and onsite meet the standards set by legal requirements under the prevailing Transport Act and other relevant current legislation, as well as those set out in the group Health and Safety policy. Ensure that working practices are safe, effective and make best use of the resources available. Resource & Development:
Assist in the recruitment for all roles within the relevant sections of the Supply Chain area. Assist in the training and development of individuals within their teams to enable clear progression and to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels at all times. Performance, improvement and legal compliance:
Keep abreast of any changes in working practice and law, and share this information in a timely way throughout the team. Assist Supply Chain management in ensuring legal compliance and the achievement of agreed KPIs within Distribution. Employee Relations:
Support and encourage a positive culture within their areas of control and influence, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management. Performance Management:
Manage the performance of all team members through the use of business performance management systems (i.e. appraisal) and impose disciplinary sanctions if necessary in accordance with company policy. Quality Standards:
Drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within all relevant areas through Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Ensure that both business and customer standards are maintained at audit ready status at all times. Resource Management:
Assist in the management of picking, dispatching, routing and planning of all deliveries to meet customer/company requirements ensuring lead times and deadlines are complied with. Communication:
Assist the Supply Chain management in ensuring that the Distribution teams are kept informed of all relevant changes in their area, the wider company and any legislative changes. Customer Service:
Adopt and deliver a complete customer service approach ensuring that customer needs are met to an optimum level at all times. 3rd Party Responsibility:
Ensure the safe accurate logistics tasks performed at 3rd party premises, including the creation and monitoring of KPIs.
