We are recruiting a Test Equipment Calibration Technician to join a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the potential to last for several years.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage automotive R&D test equipment used for the testing and development of prototype motor vehicles at the R&D facility. Oversee external supplier-accredited calibrations. Conduct traceable in-house calibrations with a focus on working towards UKAS accreditation / ISO17025 quality systems. Prepare calibration and test certificates, ensuring quality assurance. Perform instrument fault diagnosis and minor repairs. Advise internal customers on instrument use, repair, and replacements. Carry out internal audits to ensure compliance with calibration standards and equipment control. Ensure efficient and effective performance of the daily laboratory workload within agreed turnaround times, adhering to both technical standards and internal quality standards. Assist team members with troubleshooting equipment problems. Review and approve certification and calculations completed by other team members. Update calibration procedures and uncertainty budgets. Compile and report team KPIs, providing feedback to management on successes and areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

Experience working in a calibration laboratory to ISO 9001 or ISO17025 standards. BTEC qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline. Strong diagnostic skills and practical abilities. Excellent communication skills. Proficient in rudimentary calculations and handling a significant amount of written documentation. PC literate, with experience using Microsoft software packages. Able to work independently to meet deadlines. Proficient in MS Excel for data management and producing graphs. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Able to manage and prioritise tasks effectively. Experience with MET/Team is advantageous.

Hours & Pay: • Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. • £19.00 per hour.
