JOB DESCRIPTION: Our company manufactures fiberglass insulation for the construction industry and consumer markets. We are part of Saint-Gobain, the world’s largest and oldest building products Company. The plant operates 24/7 365 days of the year and has a unionized workforce under the Unifor. Wages are set by the Collective Agreement and currently range from $22.82 to $42.36 per hour. Night premium $1.60 Third year apprentice $32.95/hour Fourth year apprentice $34.69/hour Licensed Millwright $35.77/hour plus $.70/work hour Dual Licensed Millwright/electrician $42.36/hour plus $1.30/work hour POSITION DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the mechanic is responsible for: Performing all duties in a safe and efficient manner following company safety standards. Performing and inspecting equipment, and maintenance on equipment. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends. Must be a team player. Able to learn to maintain automated plant manufacturing equipment. Must be able to interact, communicate and work effectively and professionally with all employees and management staff in a team-oriented environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to spend a significant amount of time on the plant floor. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair climbing, lifting, and entering confined spaces. Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards.
