The Opportunity
This is a full-time permanent role for a full-stack software developer based in either Newton Aycliffe, County Durham or Beeston, Nottingham. You will be working as part of a DevOps team made up of around 12 hardworking and enthusiastic people, across multiple geographic locations and time zones, who share a passion for delivering real value to and driving change in the UK rail industry.
We offer a relaxed hybrid working model: during school term, 3 days office-based and 2 days home-based. Outside of school term, during major school holidays, this is relaxed up to 5 days working from home.
The role may also require occasional travel to other Worldline or customer sites within the UK and Ireland.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Completion of software design documentation for small to medium-sized changes.
Development and unit testing of changes to new or existing products.
Review team’s code.
Investigation and fixing of software bugs.
Development and maintenance of software documentation and user guides.
Deputising for Team Leader / Scrum Master – leading daily team calls etc.
Mentoring some of our junior developers.
Occasionally assisting with technical estimates.
Occasionally assisting with client workshops and demonstrations.

An experienced full-stack developer with at least four years’ development experience with desirable skills to help us develop our applications using the following tools, frameworks and languages:
Angular Framework (JavaScript and TypeScript). HTML CSS .NET C# SQL
Experience of reviewing wider team’s code. Experience of deputising for scrum master or team leader. Experience of writing technical software designs for junior members of the team to work from. Experience of working with tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, GitLab repositories and CI/CD pipelines, SonarQube and Containers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience of working within the UK Railway Industry would be highly beneficial. A good understanding of non-functional requirements and why they are important.
