We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to support the process Technicians in ensuring the overall operations of our wastewater treatment works at Earlswood near Redhill in Surrey.

You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant equipment, alongside supporting operating the plant. Working within the team you will follow a robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in installation projects, mechanical fault finding, project commissioning and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents. Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company standards and procedures. Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required. Maintaining technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, pipework, chemical handling and dosing equipment. Earlswood - Redhill - RH1 5HE. Working Pattern:

38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am-3:36 pm plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training. All PPE, tools, and van will be provided.

What you should bring to the role You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems. An NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is essential. Ideally, you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical plant equipment safely and efficiently. Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Due to the nature of this role, domestic experience is not suitable. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential. Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment. A full UK driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as vehicles and tools are provided. What’s in it for you?
