Our client is seeking a Designer to join their growing team. Preferably with experience working in facades or constructions and someone who has led on high value projects preferably upwards of GBP150K. The role demands strong technical skill with AutoCAD and a sound understanding of building regulations in the UK. Previous experience managing multiple projects is essential and working alongside main contractors an advantage. Key Tasks and Activities Technical Drawing: For assigned design projects, manage the end–to–end activity including customer/stakeholder interaction and scope management, design and technical drawing and associated documentation, governance and compliance with regulation, standards and practices and supporting in a consultative manner post design stage for example during fabrication or installation. Ensure all drawings and designs are compliant with: Relevant building regulations and standards Product technical specifications Customer specification Company design principles Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 Create, review and update AutoCAD drawings with precise detailing and accuracy. For assigned projects produce full project drawings packs for customer approval. These packs should include relevant elevations, plans and sections. Project Management: Work on multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met, expectations and stakeholders managed throughout, and the quality of output is to a high standard. Ensure all documents, drawings and information are saved onto correct internal and external systems and portals (such as Smartsheet, 4P, Asite, Procore). Liaise effectively and appropriately with internal and external stakeholders such as architects, engineers, and colleagues to gather necessary information, ensure design compatibility and enable smooth delivery of customer requirements. Ensure any identified challenges or discrepancies are quickly raised internally for discussion or directed to external parties through necessary procedures, such as Requests For Information (RFI). Using internal reporting procedures and management information methods to demonstrate project progress, challenges, and deliverables. When necessary, and under delegation from the Pre Construction & Design Director, oversee the tasks assigned and completed by any external design resource. This will involve assigning work, managing designer availability, reviewing work and agreeing timescales. Oversee and manage project programmes including agreeing key dates for work, managing timescales and planning tools. Communicate clearly and effectively nonstandard design details (location, transport requirements, specialist fitting specifications) established through the design stage to ensure product can be installed by our team. Key Skills, Competencies and Experience Skilled with using 2D design drawing software (mandatory), preferably AutoCAD and 3D software such as Revit. Demonstrable through previous design activity and/or portfolio of work. Demonstrable understanding of navigating Building regulations and standards and awareness of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Experience working within a project based design role, preferably from a facade background in particular external walls and Curtain walling projects. Previously collaborated on either larger value design jobs over GBP150K in value, or for Tier 1 or 2 Main Contractors. Concise, accurate and prompt with management information and transfer of information between parties (internal and external) using a variety of different methods such as Document Portals (Asite, 4Projects) and other software like SmartSheet, Procore. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively exchange highly technical information with architects and engineers, but also translate these for those less experienced in design principles and building regulations.
