30/12/2024 We are currently recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Water Production team to work out of our Farmoor water treatment works. What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician: Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents. Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required. Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment. What you should bring to the role: To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification. Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector. Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry. 18 TH Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement but must be willing to obtain during probation. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential. The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles. A valid driving licence is essential. Take ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team. Be proactive in taking the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively. Be prepared to be trained in safety procedures. What’s in it for you? Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
