Job Description

The Mansfield Group, the leading Rescue & Recovery operator, has a vacancy for a HGV Mechanic at our Birmingham Service Centre.

Monday - Friday (Flexible Working Hours)

Purpose of Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a passion for trucks to join our commercial workshop team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our fleet of vehicles is equipped to attend vehicle breakdowns, assisting our customers in getting back on the road. This is a fast-paced, dynamic working environment suitable for those with a flexible approach to work.

You will also have the opportunity to enhance your skills, as we offer specialist recovery & rescue training, supporting our customers who have an HGV fleet that needs assistance at the side of the road, with scope to obtain your L/HGV driving Licence if you wish.

Job Specification

Carrying out inspections, service routines, and repairs

Diagnosing and finding faults in a wide variety of vehicles

Completing vehicle safety inspections to the highest standard

Contributing to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop

Preparing vehicles for MOT and presentation for test

Demonstrating due regard for own safety and that of others in the workshop and minimising risk of injury and vehicle damage

Carrying out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle

Obtaining diagnostic and repair information

Interpreting diagnostic information and using electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability

Using a range of diagnostic equipment and reporting faults using company procedures, recommending suitable further actions

Following recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs including those which involve complex procedures or in-depth knowledge

Testing the function of repaired and fitted components

Adhering to business processes and completing documentation following workplace procedures

Ordering and sourcing vehicle parts, creating emails, word-processing documents, and carrying out web-based searches

Completing a range of services and inspecting and preparing a vehicle to the required quality standard

This is a regional role and would suit applicants from any area in the Midlands. Due to the contracts we hold, you will be required to obtain police force vetting approval prior to your commencement date. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required.
