Estimator - Engineering Role Overview: My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their engineering team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate cost estimates for manufacturing projects, ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering processes, materials, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Analyse technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates. Calculate material, labour, and machining costs for engineering components. Factor in additional costs, such as tooling, subcontracting, and quality control. Project Evaluation: Assess project feasibility, risks, and timelines based on client requirements and production capabilities. Collaborate with the production team to optimize processes and minimize costs. Client Communication: Liaise with clients to clarify specifications, address queries, and provide accurate quotes. Ensure that all estimates align with customer expectations and company objectives. Market Analysis: Stay updated on material costs, industry trends, and technological advancements in engineering. Use market insights to adjust pricing strategies and maintain competitiveness. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and related communications. Provide regular reports to management on estimate performance and project profitability. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience as an Estimator in the engineering or manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, materials, and machining processes. Proficiency in estimating software and tools. Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and internal teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Degree or diploma in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field. Familiarity with CAD software and ERP systems.
