If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!

You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around East London transporting our fantastic customers across outer London. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip-top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!

You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses which we operate across London. Our buses include modern double-deckers and single-deckers as well as some new electric buses which are now in service with us.

Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.

And it’s not all garage-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!

Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer:

Great benefits:

including a competitive salary, company pension scheme, free financial education and affordable loans, and a range of money-saving opportunities including discounts on holidays and retail brands, cinema outings, dental insurance, vehicle breakdown cover and hotels and attractions.

Free travel:

for you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit) and outside London there is free travel for you and a companion on Stagecoach buses across the UK.

UK-wide opportunities:

career development and secondment opportunities to work elsewhere in our UK business. If you’re happy working in operations then that’s absolutely fine by us…but if you do want to progress we’ll support you every step of the way.

An employee assistance programme:

to support health and wellbeing through a confidential service available 24 hours a day, which provides specialist guidance and assistance on a range of personal and work-related issues, from dealing with stress and anxiety to managing financial, marital or legal issues.

A great working environment:

with loads of opportunity to make new friends from a bunch of great colleagues and employee networks building inclusive environments for women, veterans, carers, multicultural and LGBTQ+ colleagues.

You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have worked in an engineering technician field involving large vehicles – truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it is large and it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses!

It would be desirable for you to hold a PCV licence and a Level 3 engineering qualification in heavy vehicles.

So, if you fancy working in a great engineering team to make sure Susie gets to her job interview, Abdul gets to the hospital to pick up his wife, and Tom gets home from his night out okay, then please click the Apply Now button.

Stagecoach workplace culture is one where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences our people bring to the business are celebrated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of background, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation or age.
