Senior Design Engineer £41,000 - £50,000 DOE Bolton Mon – Fri 8am – 5pm (12pm finish on a Friday) The purpose of the Senior Design Engineer role is to control the design delivery of internal and external projects, ensuring adherence to specification/ requirements, compliance with standards/ legislation, and full consideration for the product lifecycle. This will include reporting design team performance against budget and programme to the Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Manager, and respective Project Manager. The role is responsible for generating compliant & accurate design output into purchasing, production, and operations. Key Responsibilities:

Manage the production of designs that comply with product assurance limitations, and that fully consider all stages of the product lifecycle (including material limitations, manufacturability, installability, operability etc). Elimination of H&S risks from designs in accordance with CDM regulations. Ultimate responsibility for product Designer’s Risk Assessment’s clearly identifying mitigation measures incorporated; good knowledge of risks and mitigations. Checking & Approval responsibilities in accordance with company process (3D Models & 2D Drawings). Ensure all design output aligns with the Engineering Handbook, BS 8888, and is 100% accurate. Work closely with analysis engineers to ensure designs/ models/ drawings developed accurately reflect the theoretical analysis, advising on design issues, and logging changes in accordance with company procedure. Understand the build sequence in design of all output, prior to release into production engineering. Ensure Design and/ or Manufacturability reviews are completed and documented, and communicate design intent to the wider project team. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase departmental design capabilities and improve efficiency. Confirm appropriate door template with Reportees prior to commencing work, where appropriate. Maximise change capture within the department, ensuring all change is captured on projects. Provide support to the project teams, liaising with customers as required. Complete adherence to Booth’s ISO 9001 procedures for engineering department. Attend on-site/ off-site customer meetings & shop floor as required. Responsible for achieving schedule adherence for all actions assigned to individual projects.
