We are currently recruiting for an

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

to join our team in Cannock, focusing on social housing contracts. As the

Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) , you will be supporting the Quantity Surveyors in managing the costs related to building and civil engineering projects. This role involves assisting in estimating, budgeting, contract administration, and ensuring the financial aspects of projects are effectively managed to maximise profitability while maintaining quality standards.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects during tendering.

Support in developing and maintaining project budgets.

Gather and analyse data on material costs, labour, and equipment.

Help in preparing and managing contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions.

Monitor contract compliance and assist in resolving disputes or variations.

Assist in managing sub-contractor contracts and agreements.

Measure and value work completed on-site to prepare interim valuations.

Assist in preparing and submitting client payment applications.

Handle subcontractor payments and ensure timely reconciliation.

Support procurement of materials and subcontractor services.

Assist in obtaining quotes and negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.

Monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and flag potential overspends.

Support in preparing final accounts for projects.

Assist in identifying project risks and proposing mitigation strategies.

Participate in resolving financial or contractual issues that arise.

Ensure all work adheres to legal, contractual, and company standards.

Maintain accurate records of costs, contracts, and communications.

Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Key Skills & Experience:

Driving License

Background in Social Housing

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Basic understanding of construction methods and building regulations.

Good communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.

Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Included will be a car allowance + fuel.

Pay: Up to £36,000.00 per year
