Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a General Property Risk Engineer to join our Manchester or London team. This role is responsible for supporting the General Property underwriting team with desktop account reviews, onsite-evaluations, and client/broker meetings for a diverse portfolio of engineered risks. This candidate will work closely with underwriters to help grow and maintain a healthy book of business through engineered risk selection. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. Essential Job Functions Conduct account level reviews and periodic onsite evaluations for underwriting purposes. Act as a technical resource for the underwriting team. Collaborate with the Global Engineering team on standards, guidelines, and technology. Participate in broker and client meetings to strengthen our relationship and deliver our value-added proposition. Act as quality control for survey reports and coordinate services for assigned accounts. Qualifications: Degree in Chemical/Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering preferred. 5 years field and/or account engineering experience required. Knowledgeable in various occupancies as well as FM Data Sheets / NFPA codes and EN standards. Highly motivated with good oral/presentation and written communication skills for underwriting/client interaction. Some travel required attending customer/broker meetings and conducting surveys.
