Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team. To provide a professional and efficient service to our clients and meet our contractual obligations. To undertake health checks to assess fitness for work/University placement, implementation and participation in vaccination and immunisation programs including phlebotomy and health surveillance programmes where indicated. Responsibilities Administer vaccines according to Green Book schedules and OHWorks written orders. Vaccination and Immunisation programmes for Adults and Children (routine, childhood, travel including workplace occupational health - training provided). Phlebotomy, logging and ensuring dispatched in line with OH Works procedures. Ear syringing, Cannulation and Vitamin Drip infusion administration. Ensure that all data regarding blood tests and immunisations are accurately recorded. Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical practice. Completion of Risk Assessment following a blood or body fluid exposure incident and ensure that appropriate advice and follow up is provided according to protocol. Participation in contact tracing programs in the event of employee exposure to a communicable disease. Assist in delivery of health surveillance programmes where required (training provided). Assist in delivery of the influenza vaccination programmes. Ensure the clinical environment is maintained to required standards. Ensure proper vaccine storage is maintained in line with OHWorks policy and national guidance, including maintenance of the cold chain during transportation and when carrying out clinics at remote venues. Ensure clinical supplies are stored and maintained appropriately and stock takes are completed as per OHWorks protocol. Compliance with standard infection control precautions including hand hygiene, use of PPE, handling and storing of clinical specimens, safe handling and disposal of sharps. Participate in all clinical governance activities including clinical audit and training and competency checks. Support Head of Clinical Services to update nursing protocols. Attend mandatory training to ensure CQC compliance. Undertake defined projects to support the delivery of clinically effective and evidence-based guidance. Comply with OHWorks policies and protocols. Maintain professional knowledge and adherence to evidence-based guidance. * This is a developing position, so the role could expand and additional training will be provided. Skills Registered Nurse on the NMC register. Self-motivation to learn and improve clinical effectiveness is essential. Demonstrable experience of immunisation and phlebotomy. Demonstrable experience of health surveillance skills or willingness to learn. Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft office and a willingness to develop IT skills further and become proficient in the use of OHWorks IT system (training will be provided). Excellent organisational and planning skills. Accurate reporting skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required. Multi-tasking skills. The ability to prioritise tasks and delegate when necessary. Well-organised, capable of turning their hand to a variety of tasks. A team player, but able to work on their own initiative and be self-sufficient. Flexible and positive approach to work with a ‘can do’ attitude. Self-awareness and a sense of respect for others irrespective of gender, social class, race or sexual orientation. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
