Healthcare Assistant - Inpatient Unit (IPU) BERKHAMSTED Spring Garden Lane, Full-time roles available Band 3 Salary £22,370 Closing date: 28/02/2025 Are you looking for the opportunity to work within a holistically focused, multi-disciplinary team; improving the quality of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses? About our HCA role: Our Health Care Assistants work on our Inpatient Unit (IPU), and work closely with our professional nursing team, providing exceptional standards of individualised physical, psychological and spiritual care to patients in IPU and at times supporting our community patients at home, as directed by the Registered Nurse. This role requires you to carry out duties according to the philosophy of the Hospice, complying at all times with policies relating to safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children whilst maintaining confidentiality of patients and their families. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To work mainly within IPU with a degree of flexibility to support community as and when required Work alongside professionals to provide exceptional standards of individualised physical, psychological and spiritual care to patients in IPU and at home, as directed by Registered Nurse. Carry out duties according to the philosophy of the Hospice complying at all times with policies relating to safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children whilst maintaining confidentiality of patients and their families. Represent the organisation and uphold the organisation's reputation and values Support the organisation's income generation activity. About you: Compassionate with a caring attitude and excellent listening skills A competent HCA with a willingness to deliver exceptional direct and intimate personal care Flexibility to deliver care & support in a team working 24/7 - 365 days a year to include nights Flexibility to support our community patients as and when required A willingness to learn, develop new skills and be a team player who supports others Care certificate / NVQ qualified Experience of working in a hospice or palliative care setting is preferred, but not essential Please note the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced level DBS check. Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Knowledge Essential Evidence of good general education Competence to deliver direct and intimate personal care Willingness to learn and develop new skills Current driving licence, with use of own car Desirable Previous experience working in a Hospice or Palliative Care setting Care of dying patients and their families Experience of using electronic patient record systems Care certificate / NVQ qualified level 2 Qualified by experience in a similar role working in a healthcare setting, or community care Care certificate / NVQ qualified level 3 / NVQ 2/3 Health and Social Care Experience delivering care as part of a rostered team working 24/7 365 days/year Previous experience of rehabilitative care.
