An exciting opportunity has arisen at our DOGGY DAY CARE in St Helens. Windle Wonder Touch Doggy Day Care are going from strength to strength and are recruiting for a Doggy Day Care Assistant to join the team. You will be working as part of a friendly established team where full on the job training will be given. We are looking for someone who is confident to deal both with a pack of dogs and speak to customers. Hours available are mixed between 7am and 6pm Mon to Sat, with extra hours available as per business needs. At Windle Wonder Touch Doggy Day Care, all the dogs are welcomed into carefully chosen social groups of similar size, play styles, and energy levels. It is the Dog Care Assistant’s responsibility to ensure that the physical and emotional needs of all the dogs in their care are met. Dogs arrive at the Centre from 07.00am and go home by 18.30pm. Throughout the day they are supervised during an array of different group activities that allow for natural expression of canine behavior, including play, individual choice, and rest. The successful candidate will:

Understand the physical nature of the role. Be used to working with a pack of dogs and understand dog language. Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and presentation by cleaning and disinfecting all areas within and surrounding the Centre, including toilets and reception area. Undertake laundry duties and any other reasonable duties within the Centre. Have the drive and determination to learn and achieve the skills to be proficient in their role and take full advantage of in-house training opportunities. Establish good relations with clients. Follow all Health & Safety procedures. Be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Have a minimum level 2 Animal Management or proven similar. Under the supportive guidance of skilled and knowledgeable industry professionals, the successful candidate will have the necessary skills required for the role, including: Active supervision and management of dog social groups, including anticipation of behaviours. Physical examination of the dogs if required. Canine body language, dog behavior, and social group dynamics. How to plan and implement environmental enrichment activities and reward-based training sessions. Preparation of lunchtime meals for the dogs. How to facilitate the successful introduction of each dog into their social group. All employees share the responsibility of ensuring that the highest priorities of dog welfare and hygiene are continually upheld. Duties will include:

Tending to each individual dog’s needs in a thoughtful, gentle, and caring manner. Supervising dog interaction during group activities. Providing reward-based dog training activities. General cleaning duties; picking up and disposing of dog waste, hoovering, sweeping, mopping, wiping, etc. Communicating clearly with the management team, other employees, dogs, and their owners.
