We are looking for an experienced, proactive Paediatric Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join our friendly team based in Worthing Hospital. You will join our Multi Disciplinary Team working closely with our Paediatric Consultants and Paediatric Respiratory Nurse Specialist (based at St Richard's Hospital) to ensure delivery of excellent care to Children and Young People (CYP) with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and other respiratory conditions; Including patients with Asthma and patients that require Long Term Ventilatory support (LTV). Acting as named nurse you will provide clinical management, support and education to patients, families and carers. Assessing, planning and implementing individualised care packages from diagnosis to transition into adult services. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communications skills, clinical decision making, team working and time management skills. They must also have the ability to teach and support both pre and post registration nurses and have a commitment to continuous professional development. We encourage applications from nurses who are excited by this role and have relevant experience but do not meet the Band 7 criteria. In these circumstances, the successful applicant would be considered for a Band 6 training post (if no suitable Band 7 applicants apply). A Band 7 would be awarded on completion of identified courses and competencies following a designated period consolidating practice. Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert clinical care to children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and other Respiratory conditions and their families acting as a specialist in this area. Working as an autonomous practitioner with excellent clinical decision-making skills, the post holder will assess, plan and implement individualised care packages for children offering advice and providing support and education to the child, their families and to medical staff and nursing colleagues. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team as a named CF/Respiratory Nurse Specialist for children and families. The CF/Respiratory Nurse Specialist will have a five-fold responsibility to patients and their families and the staff that are involved in the care of those patients. These areas include advocacy, clinical management, advice and support, education, research and management. The CF/Respiratory Nurse Specialist will be the co-ordinator of care and will provide emotional and educational support to children and families, from the point of diagnosis through to transition and at key developmental stages in childhood and adolescence.
