As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Head of Communications for this brand new role. This role will involve leading the Sheffield Forgemasters internal and external communications and engagement strategy.

Role Responsibilities Manage and implement all internal and external communications, public & community relations, and social & digital marketing efforts. Develop and implement the Sheffield Forgemasters communication strategy. Manage brand identity across all communications channels. Prepare internal and external communications across the business, to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment with strategic objectives, values and behaviours. Develop and manage media relationships, manage press releases, and act as a spokesperson for the business, when required. Oversee the use of internal communication channels such as intranet, social media, and collaboration tools. Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of the communications strategy and adjust as necessary. Oversee crisis communications and issues management, including developing and implementing crisis communications plans for potential and arising issues & challenges. Lead any internal communications team and contracted communications suppliers, delivery partners & providers.

About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required. Extensive experience in a senior communications role. Educated to degree-level, ideally in a related subject. Experience working with C-suite - level to brief and coach on media engagement. Proven experience in developing and implementing effective communications strategies. Strong external media and communications network. Demonstrable experience acting as a company spokesperson. Strategic thinker who uses data to make effective decisions. Experience building and managing an editorial content calendar to deliver high quality, impactful communications and social media content. Strong leadership skills. Project management experience. Experience in crisis communications planning and management.

Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:45am - 4:00pm.
