SENIOR CHARITIES LAWYER (LEGAL DIRECTOR / PARTNER) MANCHESTER WITH HYBRID/REMOTE WORKING Competitive Salary Package, Benefits & Bonus Haggerty Jaques is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a Senior Charities Lawyer to lead and develop a new Charities practice in Manchester. This is an ambitious venture, offering the chance to make your mark in the North while being fully supported by an established and respected Charities team and wider firm based in the South. If you’re passionate about working with charities and not-for-profit organisations, have a strong client following, and want to build something exceptional, this could be the perfect next step in your career. The Role This is your opportunity to take ownership of a new practice. You’ll be responsible for growing and leading the Manchester-based Charities team, delivering high quality legal advice to charities, not-for-profits, and social enterprises. Whilst the Manchester office is a new venture, you won’t be starting from scratch; you’ll have the full support of the wider firm and Charities team based in the South, as well other senior Manchester-based lawyers whose expertise and resources will underpin your work and provide a strong foundation for success. About You You’ll be a Legal Director or Partner at a comparable firm with around 10 years’ PQE. Your expertise will include advising on setting up and structuring charities, trading companies, and social enterprises, as well as handling reorganisations and providing guidance to trusts, CIOs, Community Benefit Societies, and similar entities. You’ll have experience of managing Charity Commission matters, governance issues, and trustee responsibilities. Ideally, you would also be skilled in supporting schools with academy conversions and related matters. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to bring a proven ability to generate work through your client following and a strong track record of business development. You’ll have significant experience of acting for charities, schools, and other not-for-profit organisations. Why This Role? This is a rare opportunity to set up a new practice. You’ll have the chance to shape the team, grow its presence in the North, and build something extraordinary, all within the framework of a collaborative and supportive firm. If this sounds like the challenge you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you. Any references to PQE/years’ experience in our adverts are included purely as a guide and should not preclude candidates who believe they have the requisite skills and experience from applying.
