Job Description:
This Senior SEN Caseworker post is within the statutory service team covering Year 6 up to 25. You will be line-managed by the SEN Operational Manager with supervision from our Senior Casework Advisor.
As a Senior SEN Caseworker, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people with SEN, working closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing a caseload of children and young people with complex SEN needs.
Collaborating with families, schools, and external agencies to develop and review Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.
Providing guidance and advocacy for children, young people, and their families, ensuring they understand and access their rights and support.
Ensuring statutory deadlines and processes are met in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Supporting the SEN Operational Manager and providing guidance to junior team members.
Contributing to policy development and service improvement initiatives.
Ensuring smooth transitions for children and young people between educational phases, including Year 6 to secondary school and further education or training.
To be Successful in this Role:
To succeed in this role, you will have significant experience in SEN casework and a strong understanding of statutory processes. You will also possess:
Proven experience managing a caseload of SEN cases, including complex and high-need scenarios.
In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and associated legislation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, schools, and professionals.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is desirable.
