A bit about the job:

You’ll have the opportunity to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the control environment, including opportunities to leverage emerging technologies.

Created in response to significant transformation activities within Finance, this role emphasises the importance of a high quality, sustainable control environment.

As a subject matter expert, you’ll partner with various stakeholders across finance, using your expertise to generate ideas, challenge processes and support delivery.

You will focus on the full lifecycle of the change process, and will include using your subject matter expertise to:

Provide support to identify opportunities to drive improvements in the control environment, leveraging the planned change activity.

Support with design and implementation of controls and integration into planned process improvements.

Support for identification of risks associated with change delivery and design of mitigating activities.

Support and challenge through the various stages of change delivery, including testing and business readiness activity.

Provide input and support on design and implementation of overarching framework for supporting finance colleagues assess and address risk and controls through change delivery.

You will be working in a partnering role with individuals leading and delivering finance transformation and change activity, therefore you will be building working relationships with appropriate contacts and building your understanding of the relevant impacted processes, systems, and data.

As this is a new role, you will have the opportunity to develop the role to meet the needs of the business as the activity undertaken in this team embeds and matures. This role reports into the Financial Control Transformation Director and sits within the Group Financial Controller team, the scope of the role covers all areas of finance and across all market finance teams at Aviva.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate is likely to be a qualified accountant with recent financial control assurance or controls consultancy experience, with experience of delivery of improved risk and control outcomes.

Good knowledge of the insurance industry and of finance processes (operational and reporting).

Experience of working with new technologies to enhance quality and sustainability of control environment and associated risk and control activity would be beneficial but not essential.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate using your SME knowledge to non-SMEs.

Relationship management skills to achieve objectives through others and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

What you’ll get for this role:

National salary: circa £55,000; London salary: circa £70,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).

Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
