Frimley Park Hospital is currently seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated Day Surgery Unit 2 Theatre Team. We welcome applications from motivated, enthusiastic applicants who are committed to providing excellent patient care. Experience within an operating theatre or hospital environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. Main duties of the job

A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in operating theatres works as part of the multidisciplinary team. They assist in setting up theatres and preparing the theatre and patient for surgery. The HCA assists the Theatre Practitioners and surgical team during surgical procedures with equipment, instruments, and patient care. Applications are for full-time 37.5 hours worked over 3/4 days, doing 07:30 - 19:30 shifts from Monday to Friday. Applicants will be willing to do cross-site working with Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital when required. Job responsibilities

Preparation of operating theatres for surgery, setting up equipment, instruments, and inputting data onto computers. Cleaning and maintaining the theatres and store areas. Assisting the Theatre Practitioners during theatre lists. Assisting in the anaesthetic room prior to surgery. Person Specification

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE level Completion of a care award NVQ Experience

Experience of working in a team, undertaking duties as requested Experience in a healthcare setting Experience of working in theatres Skills

Good communication skills, both written and verbal Physical ability to carry out activities required e.g. manual handling loads, transferring patients, and pushing beds Good interpersonal and teamworking skills under sometimes difficult conditions Manual dexterity to assist within the theatre environment e.g. opening sterile supplies Disclosure and Barring Service Check
