Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a AWS Cloud Architect for an initial 6 month contract with option to extend on a rate of £600-£650/day (Outside IR35). This role will be hybrid-based. Responsibilities: - Design the AWS cloud architecture to host mirrored databases, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. - Select and implement appropriate AWS services (e.g., RDS, S3, Lambda) to meet project requirements. - Develop the overall infrastructure, including networking, IAM policies, and backup/recovery strategies. - Collaborate closely with the SME Oracle DBA to integrate Oracle databases into the cloud environment seamlessly. - Plan for resource optimization and cost management for the AWS setup. - Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for cloud environments. - Provide technical leadership and documentation for cloud architecture and infrastructure designs. Essential Skills: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture design, with a focus on AWS. - Expertise in AWS services, including RDS, EC2, S3, and Lambda. - Strong knowledge of networking, security configurations, and IAM in cloud environments. - Experience in designing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions. - Proficiency in cost optimization strategies for cloud infrastructure. - AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification is highly desirable. Desirable Skills: - Experience working on database migration projects, particularly involving Oracle. - Knowledge of modern data warehousing solutions and cloud-native database platforms. - Familiarity with automation tools and infrastructure-as-code practices.
