The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kyiv, Ukraine. Your main aim as the safety and security manager will be to enable safe and secure operationalization of JERU activities. You’ll continuously seek to provide an enabling environment to program and support departments of JERU under the guidance of the Security Advisor. You’ll continuously support the security advisor in analyzing the security context, and you’ll provide briefing and guidance to program and support staff for their increased awareness and the safe and secure implementation of their tasks. Your responsibilities

Ensure security policies and procedures are implemented across the country, actively supporting the Security Advisor throughout this process; In coordination with the Security Advisor, monitor local, national and regional developments, analyze the security context and its implications on JERU operations, and share any relevant information; create and utilize databases and maps to keep track of and present relevant information, within the Security Team and externally; Prepare monthly reports on key security developments and ad hoc reports on sudden security developments with the support of the security team; Collect, cross-check, analyze and share information, including from field level sources, relevant to security assessments and planning, in a timely and accurate manner. Alert the Area Managers and Security Advisor in case of new developments or concerns; provide written reports as required; Manage the movement tracking process jointly with the security assistants and the logistics team; Cover air alert tracking night shifts as required, and coordinate overall shift implementation; Provide incident management support, including outside of ordinary working hours; Ensure operational safety and security support for staff traveling during and out of regular working hours as required; Identify safety and security issues/concerns for national, and for JERU operations, as well as opportunities, and provide recommendations to the area managers and security advisor for implementation; Support and coach team members, provide training as requested by security advisors; Conduct necessary safety and security analysis of premises and areas in coordination with security assistants and in collaboration with relevant departments (i.e. logistics, Area Managers), and provide recommendations; Provide security briefings to national staff and when requested to international staff, and ensure briefings, presentations, and reports are of a high standard; Enhance JERU’s links with partners and, under the guidance of the Security Advisor and the partnership advisor, provide support to JERU partners in operationalizing their security management priorities; Support the security advisor in drafting protocols, tools, and security and contingency plans for specific areas and activities; Conduct regular security drills and tests of the security management system; Support the planning for and procurement of safety and security goods and services; Your profile

Security and risk analysis skills; Skills in reporting and presenting; Experience working in a humanitarian or civil society organization; Demonstrable experience working in high-risk locations; Good digital skills in Microsoft Office applications, social media, Android; Mapping/GIS skills with Google Earth and Google Maps; QGIS skills preferred; Ability to work well with a team and communicate respectfully and effectively; Ability and willingness to travel in the whole operational area; Solid problem-solving skills; Fluency in English (verbal and written, able to interpret as needed); Fluency in both local languages; Driving license (category B); Understanding of humanitarian principles; Knowledge and understanding of the country’s government structure and system; Knowledge of labor discipline, labor protection and safety rules, fire-prevention requirements, industrial sanitation and labor hygiene rules.
