Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, part time (16 hours per week) post based in Woodlands House, Astley Ainsley Hospital. The Primary Care Facilitation Team provides specialist training and education on problem substance use and blood borne virus testing, prevention and treatment. This includes a regular programme of training offered to GPs and other practice staff. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Disseminate policies, procedures and guidance pertinent to staff in NHS Lothian caring for people affected by substance use and facilitate the implementation of good practice guidance in this field. Provide specialist information and advice on substance use to primary and community health care staff, in particular general practitioners. Maintain a knowledge of, and appropriate links with, primary care, public health and substance use services in Lothian, and support liaison between these services. Provide verbal and written reports to Primary Care Teams, NHS Lothian and Alcohol & Drug Partnership Teams as required. Participate in analysis of audit returns from primary care relating to the National Enhanced Service for Drug Users and in feedback to practices on their data through written reports, practice visits and other means as appropriate. Collaborate with Public Health and Health Policy Teams of NHS Lothian to develop guidance and monitoring systems to improve patient care. Involvement in creating, updating, extracting and analysing information from a range of databases designed to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care. Collaboration with a range of agencies involved in the care of substance users.
