Create detailed mechanical designs for laser systems, components, and associated manufacturing equipment including both augmentation of existing designs and generating new novel designs. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using CAD software using Autodesk Inventor. Perform analysis and simulations (thermal, structural, and vibrational) to ensure optimal design performance and reliability as required. Develop innovative design solutions to improve laser manufacturing processes and system efficiency. Ensure that all documentation and CAD designs reflect the latest development issue. Collaborate with prototyping teams to build and test mechanical systems and components. Evaluate prototypes and production designs, identifying areas for improvement. Provide technical guidance during the manufacturing and assembly process. Collaborate with electrical engineers and physicists to integrate mechanical designs with optical and electronic systems. Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical components and system integration. Requirements of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Recent and relevant experience generating design assemblies using Autodesk Inventor. Experience working as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within high technology manufacturing. Experienced in designing high precision mechanical mounts/assemblies and have a deep understanding and the ability to specify material use, finishing, and manufacturing methods for the designed parts. Strong understanding of materials, thermal management, and structural mechanics. Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools. Knowledge of GD&T and tolerancing for precision components. Working in ISO-certified manufacturing environments. Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Vacancy Location:
