As an Electronic Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing compact, high-reliability high-voltage systems (5-10kV) for airborne military applications. You will be responsible for specifying design requirements, ensuring compliance with system specifications, and producing essential technical documentation. Your work will focus on creating ultra-small volume, versatile, and highly reliable designs, all while adhering to strict high-voltage safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Design circuits and sub-systems to meet customer needs, ensuring reliability and manufacturability within cost targets. Provide prompt and technically sound resolutions to issues arising during development, production, and service. Verify circuit and system designs through simulations, practical testing, and environmental assessments. Ensure design compliance with regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards. Manage changes to product build standards post-launch driven by continuous improvement, obsolescence, or regulatory changes. Identify and assess IPR/patent issues and opportunities, driving claims as necessary. Continuously review market trends and technological advancements to identify potential new products or upgrades, collaborating with leadership for future development. Key Skills and Experience: Expert knowledge in power electronic systems design, including: Switch Mode PSU design PCB Design High frequency digital and analogue circuits in MILSPEC applications High frequency magnetic components (transformers) High Voltage and high power experience (3 to 10kV, 500W to 2kW) Experience in designing for Reliability (MTBF) in electronic systems. Understanding of electronics encapsulation in demanding environments. Proficient in analyzing design failure mechanisms using DfMEA/FMECA. Strong grasp of electrical safety demands and safe working practices. Familiarity with PCB layout tools and manufacturing techniques, including schematic capture and Mathcad. Qualifications: Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience in relevant product technology is essential. Further education qualifications in electronics or related fields.
