We are working on behalf of our client Feeding Coventry to find a Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Charity. Feeding Coventry is a small charity with a big ambition - the relief of people in Coventry who are experiencing food poverty, and the provision of a range of services, delivered in a thriving community setting. The Charity’s aim is to create a welcoming, inclusive space that serves as a hub for community activities. As part of this commitment, the Charity is actively working on the redevelopment of the community centre’s sports hall, a key project that will significantly improve its usability and ensure it meets the needs of our community for years to come. Located in Foleshill Community Centre, the Charity developed the Social Supermarket – a new way of tackling food poverty where dignity, choice and community are front and centre of our service. They also offer onsite support services such as financial advice and guidance, help with benefits and employment and other practical support to those struggling to make ends meet. The CEO will lead the Charity with strategic vision, whilst ensuring effective administration, financial stability, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They will oversee the support and advocacy activities, develop the management team, and implement a fundraising strategy to sustain and grow the Charity’s impact. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Trustees to monitor progress and guide the future direction of Feeding Coventry. The main duties of the CEO include but are not limited to: Drive the strategic direction of Feeding Coventry by developing a long-term plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, including a fundraising strategy and roadmap of deliverables. Monitor progress and performance, implementing corrective measures where necessary, and preparing detailed reports for the Board to ensure accountability and transparency. Raise Feeding Coventry’s profile and enhance its impact by serving as the public face of the Charity, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and engaging in targeted networking activities. Oversee Feeding Coventry’s financial management, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently to support the Charity's mission. Lead on income generation by identifying and sustaining new and existing donors, while maintaining accurate records of fundraising activities. Ensure Feeding Coventry’s governance, projects and services meet all legal and statutory requirements, with a particular focus on safeguarding. Ensure the effective implementation of Feeding Coventry’s policies including health and safety, GDPR, and Equality and Diversity. Monitor and evaluate project performance and ensure operational KPIs are consistently achieved. Line manage the Operations Manager and other team members, fostering a supportive and effective working environment. Our ideal CEO will have the below skills and experience: Ability to think strategically and to communicate a strategic vision. Good level of financial literacy, able to read and interpret charity accounts and prepare budgets within cost constraints. Good oral and written communication skills. Evidence of continual learning/professional development. Sound decision making and prepared to assume responsibility for organisational performance and development. Experience Experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in a not-for-profit or mental health setting, including experience of building successful teams of both paid staff and volunteers. Experience in building partnerships and engaging with stakeholders. Experience working with a board of trustees. Experience in securing funding and managing budgets, cash flow forecasting and managing project budgets alongside the operations budget. Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs. Skills Good leadership skills, capability to manage staff and the ability to create a supportive culture that will motivate a small team to deliver an excellent service to the local community. Skills in building relationships and high-level contacts with stakeholders. People management skills and the ability to drive performance and productivity. Ability to work with trustees and respond to the board’s requirements and expectations. Ability to write reports and other documents for trustees. Attributes Ability to be positive, proactive and to work as a team member as well as demonstrate leadership. Show flexibility, adaptability and be prepared to lead by example.
