Prince's Mead is a happy and thriving co-educational IAPS day preparatory school in Hampshire, with 290 children on roll. Set on a beautiful site near the City of Winchester, the school is housed in an impressive Grade II listed Georgian manor house with spectacular views over the Itchen Valley. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our SLT, drive the academic heart of the school and have an exciting impact on all elements of teaching and learning throughout the school. The Deputy Head (Academic) (DHA) will have a deep understanding of pedagogy and its application in a variety of educational contexts, leading efforts to identify and implement emerging best practices in education. The DHA will take a leading role in developing the school’s delivery of a tailored education, putting children’s academic progress at the centre of everything they do. They will be the lead teacher for the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB) and liaise with all stakeholders to enable this framework to be fully embedded throughout the school. They will also work carefully on the development of teaching staff through continued professional development and the personal development process (appraisal) to identify areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them. They will ensure that parents and guardians are kept informed about their child’s progress and academic performance. They will oversee the development and implementation of pupil reports that accurately reflect each pupil’s progress and academic attainment. The DHA will be responsible for organising and facilitating school parents’ evenings to ensure that these events provide opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teachers to discuss their child’s progress, strengths and areas for improvement. longlist

stage, applicants will be interviewed by the Headmaster, as well as other members of the Senior Leadership Team. They will also be given a tour of the school. At the

stage we will ask candidates to take an Assembly, deliver a lesson, meet members of our School Council, perform an in-tray exercise and have a further interview with the Headmaster and one of our Governors.
