The Trust is implementing EPR starting in 2025, providing an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start in respect of clinical coding. The post holder will work across all George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust services providing highly specialist technical and analytical support to managers throughout the organisation. The post holder will be responsible for operational and developmental work streams with an ongoing improvement focus. About us

To evaluate and table suggestions to amend strategy regarding any information issues requiring resolution as appropriate to ensure good quality information, including undertaking clinical coding audits. Manage the clinical coding team for the Trust to ensure that coding is accurate and timely in accordance with internal and external requirements. Networks with other providers and brings best practice to the Trust. To translate and communicate highly complex information both internally and externally to individuals or groups to ensure it is understood and acted on appropriately. Present information to large groups e.g. internally at coding team meetings; to groups of clinical, operational or finance colleagues; or at regional conferences. Communicates highly complex information and analysis to peers and individuals with no background knowledge in information to ensure the message is clear and concise. To be visible within the hospital to promote our directorates services and strategies. To liaise with management and directors and attend meetings to raise awareness of information issues. Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Educated to MBBS or master level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area. NHS Experience in Clinical Coding or Clinical experience with patient records. Accredited Clinical Coder. Experience & Knowledge

Coding on PAS. Excellent level of numeracy. Understanding of the issues within Clinical Coding and ability to develop solutions. Critically examines information, recognizing and analysing problems. Ability to think and act strategically. Supervision of staff, ability to lead and motivate a team in a changing environment. Expert knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology. Demonstrates a willingness to undertake further training as necessary. Identifies solutions and actions to achieve effective day-to-day performance. Use of a Patient Administration System (PAS). ECDL. Coding Software. Managing clinical coders. Understanding NHS strategic directions to support the business requirement of the department and Trust. Knowledge and awareness of national initiatives, ERF, HRGs, and Clinical Coding development. Skills and Abilities

Have good project management skills, including the ability to juggle competing priorities and tight deadlines for self and team. Ability to manage and motivate a team. Work autonomously to drive own work Programme and that of team members. Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and resolve them. Problems in relation to project or service delivery. Ability to understand a broad range of complex information quickly and make decisions where opinions differ/no obvious solution. Good presentation skills for conveying complex concepts. Ability to use informed persuasion to influence others. Developed written and verbal communication skills. Personal Qualities

Communicates in a clear and understandable manner both orally and in writing. Can explain Coding Conventions & Guidelines and interpret them to a novice audience. Is able to effectively manage time to successfully carry out set tasks, prioritising as necessary in order to achieve deadlines/objectives. Excellent administration abilities and demonstrated fine attention to detail. Good problem-solving abilities able to think outside the box. Ability to work as part of a team. Comfortable liaising with senior staff (Doctors and nurses). Understand team dynamics and change management principles. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
