Job summary

A great opportunity for an experienced Learning Disabilities SLT to take on a clinical leadership role in Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP). The post holder will manage a team of SLTs and physiotherapists (operational management only) and will be part of the clinical management team at ILDP. ILDP remains an integrated service with adult social care.

The post holder will hold a small clinical caseload and will be responsible for quality monitoring, clinical governance, data collection, quarterly reporting, service development and maintaining links with mainstream services. They will attend the London Leads meetings feeding into the national agenda for LD and SLT.

ILDP has a close relationship with Camden Learning Disabilities and positive connections with NCL counterparts; Haringey, Enfield and Barnet.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for: Delivering Speech and Language Therapy care in a range of settings where and when required in Islington in a person centred and collaborative way. Developing and shaping the services according to the health legislation and joint health and social care strategy - working closely with the senior management team. Being the line manager for Whittington Staff within ILDP. Working as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for organising and managing workload across all settings that may include a small complex caseload. Co-ordinating a comprehensive and highly specialist service to young people and adults with a wide range of health needs including complex speech, language, communication and swallowing problems. Managing a highly complex dysphagia knowledge caseload while also supporting junior staff. They will have an overview of the work of the other health professionals and work collaboratively with senior colleagues. Adhering to the Whittington Policies and procedures, particularly HR policies.

Experience

Essential At least 5 years clinical experience. Working in a learning disabilities service. Knowledge

Essential Leadership skills with examples. Understanding of the latest challenges and the LD agenda. MDT roles and multiagency working. Skills

Essential Advanced dysphagia skills. Supervisory/appraisal skills.
