Role Overview: The Operations Director will oversee the management and development of commissioning and project services, providing leadership and operational oversight across teams and projects. This role requires a strong ability to manage teams, build client relationships, deliver projects to high standards, and drive business strategy and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of 20+, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring operational excellence. Oversee commissioning and project services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality. Develop long-term relationships with existing clients while driving business development with future prospects. Provide strategic leadership in project planning, resource allocation, and risk management. Prepare project reports, manage contracts, and ensure fiscal performance to meet margin targets. Support client tendering and procurement of MEP contractors and equipment. Promote innovations and strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. Drive continuous improvement in workflows, processes, and organizational policies. Manage recruitment, mentoring, and development of staff, ensuring team growth and retention. Represent the company in technical meetings with clients, contractors, and professional teams. Provide operational updates to the director on financial, contractual, and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications and Experience: BSc/BEng in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience. MCIBSE/MIET or HND/HNC with significant industry experience. Chartered Engineer status is desirable. In-depth understanding of ASHRAE testing levels 1-5, BSRIA and CIBSE commissioning guidelines, and relevant British and European standards. Proven experience managing commissioning and project delivery, particularly on international projects. Significant expertise in the data centre sector is essential.

Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills. Commercial acumen with experience in contracts, invoicing, and fiscal management. Proficiency in MS Office and documentation management platforms (e.g., BIM360). Ability to prioritize workload, manage deadlines, and solve problems effectively. Strong report writing, presentation, and facilitation skills. Flexibility and a proactive, self-motivated approach to work.

Business Understanding: Solid knowledge of consulting or construction environments, particularly within commissioning consultancies. Understanding of international operations and the complexities of working across borders.

Internal Interfaces: Collaborate with Directors, Project Managers, and administrative teams. Engage with global peers and counterparts to align on business objectives.

External Interfaces: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and business professionals to drive long-term success.
