Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Postgres DBA to assist with the migration of the BS-Select database to AWS. This role is critical in ensuring a successful database migration while minimizing risks. The Postgres specialist will provide technical expertise to enhance our confidence in delivering a smooth and efficient migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Dumps and Preparation:
Perform database dumps on the existing BS-Select test/CoL (de-identified) P&I databases.
Migration Troubleshooting: Evaluate the suitability of the migration approach, particularly the AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) tool. Identify and address any challenges or risks associated with the migration process.
Post-Migration Support: Collaborate with the BAU (Business as Usual) team to provide ongoing support and maintenance for the Postgres database environment. Resolve any issues arising post-migration to ensure seamless database operations.
Required Skills and Experience: Proven expertise in PostgreSQL database administration and migration. Hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or similar migration tools. Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in database migration contexts. Familiarity with database de-identification and secure handling of sensitive data. Experience supporting Postgres databases in a BAU environment. Desirable Skills: Knowledge of AWS cloud services and architecture. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Previous experience in handling large-scale database migrations.
