Housing Organisation

Brighton & Hove City Council Job introduction

Brighton & Hove is a great place to live, learn, work, and visit. Our diverse and vibrant community is passionate about the city and there’s a shared commitment to celebrating and promoting all that makes Brighton & Hove so unique. We are committed to delivering an outstanding service to our residents and making Tenancy Services the first choice for housing professionals. If you are looking to work in a flexible and forward-thinking organisation and are an experienced housing professional looking for an exciting new challenge, we would be delighted to hear from you. You’ll be working in a directorate dedicated to empowering people from different communities and backgrounds to come together, live well, and thrive, supported by our city-wide work on fairness, inclusion, and engagement. You will have a relevant professional qualification or proven experience of working in housing at this level. Your experience will have given you an excellent knowledge and understanding of the full range of housing management services, including the relevant legal context, welfare benefits, and safeguarding. You will be comfortable leading a team of Tenancy Sustainment Officers managing a diverse and complex caseload in a high-demand service and will be a strong collaborator with a range of teams in a multi-agency setting. Working in a psychologically informed way, you’ll have an ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, a deep understanding of the needs of our different communities and residents, and the skills to ensure accessibility and inclusion in your work. We have a full-time vacancy available, with flexible working including regular working from home to support a positive work/life balance. We can also offer fully office-based arrangements as an option. Our diverse team is based across the city in one of our two housing offices in Whitehawk and Kemptown; at Hove Town Hall, and at our Housing Centre based in Moulsecoomb. On the days you are working in the office, you will be in a spacious and welcoming working environment, and whether working in the office or remotely, you will become part of our friendly and supportive management team. In return, we can offer you a competitive salary, training and qualifications, career progression with the opportunity to become involved and lead on bespoke projects, flexible working, a generous annual leave allowance with the opportunity to buy extra days, staff discounts, and admittance into the Local Government Pension Scheme. For more information about the organisation and the specific roles, please download the job description/person specification. Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work-life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense. Company information

Encouraging a diverse workforce We are committed to developing and retaining a workforce that is representative of the diverse communities that we serve and has insight into the lived experience of our tenants, so we welcome and encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds. In order to achieve our aims of proportionate representation, we particularly encourage applicants from a BME or White Other background, as well as those who identify as disabled or LGBTQ. If you are successful in your application, we have the following employee networks here to support you throughout your employment with us: BME Workers, Disabled Workers and Carers, LGBTQ Workers, and Women’s Network.
