What will I be doing as a Laboratory Technician Apprentice?

You will work as part of the technical team at BYK Widnes, responsible for laboratory-based tasks, which includes sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysing results. Adherence to laboratory procedures and health and safety guidelines is crucial at all times! Prepare and analyse samples following strict methodologies to produce reliable and precise data Record and interpret results in a timely manner Issue technical reports within areas of responsibility Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment Work both individually and as part of a laboratory team Follow Quality and Health & Safety procedures Maintain housekeeping standards at all times General ad hoc responsibilities as required by the business What could the future look like?

This programme is designed to enable existing team members or new recruits to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to fulfil their vital role. Once you've qualified, you'll be eligible to join the Register of Science Technicians (RSciTech). What will you bring?

You must hold a relevant A level (Science) or previous experience of working in a laboratory. Experience

This is a very hands-on and practical role Demonstrate a love for Science and a clear passion for starting a long-term career in a laboratory Focused and careful in all aspects of work Comfortable using a computer and have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Confident and comfortable communicator Please note, due to the nature of this role, you must be aged 18+ and able to reliably commute to work within 45 minutes. Requirements
