An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to join an established service providing epilepsy care to adults across the region, on an 18 month secondment.

The service provides expert assessment, advice, training and intervention supporting the medical and surgical management of patients with epilepsy.

The successful applicant will be supported through clinical supervision and formal academic training to develop further knowledge and skills to support people who have epilepsy.

Main duties of the job The role of the Specialist Nurse is multifaceted however, the ultimate aim is the provision of a high quality specialist service to people with Epilepsy. The successful candidate will act as a source of contact and advice for patients, carers and health professionals.

They will have an ability to both work autonomously and as part of the wider Epilepsy Specialist team and will be assisted to make key decisions to both directly and indirectly influence patient care.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and understanding of both national and local guidance in relation to Epilepsy.

They will have post registration experience at a Band 5, experience of working with Epilepsy or Neurological conditions is an advantage. The desirable candidate will evidence via CPD that they have continuous evidence of learning.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree/Diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification). Evidence of continuous professional Development. NMC Registration.

Desirable Post Registration qualification in Neurosciences. Evidence of involvement in teaching.

Knowledge Essential Demonstrates evidence based clinical knowledge.

Desirable Current Knowledge of Epilepsy.

Experience Essential Experience post registration as a Band 5.

Desirable Experience in relevant setting i.e Neurosciences.
