Data Cabling Engineer , you will be a key contributor to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data cabling infrastructure, supporting IP monitoring systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and data centre monitoring. This role will require you to work across various environments including commercial, industrial, residential properties, and large estates. Your work will ensure high standards of installation that meet client and company requirements. Key Responsibilities: Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a cabling in a variety of settings. Conduct site surveys to assess cabling requirements for monitoring systems. Install cable containment systems such as conduits, trunking, cable trays, and baskets. Collaborate with the project management team to meet project timelines. Test and troubleshoot cable systems to ensure the proper functioning of connected devices. Read and interpret CAD plans, diagrams, and schematics for cable layouts. Ensure all installations comply with industry standards and best practices. Provide technical support for network infrastructure, including patching, labelling, and cable management. Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and any faults. Work with the monitoring systems installation team to integrate cabling with IP-based monitoring systems. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including conducting risk assessments and preparing method statements. Candidate Qualifications and Attributes: Proven experience in data cabling installations. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and cable management principles. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for data cabling installations. Familiarity with cabling standards and best practices (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC). Ability to read and interpret CAD plans and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction. Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within a team. Full UK driving licence. Additional Skills (Preferred): Basic IT and networking knowledge. Experience in reading and working with schedules and diagrams. Skilled in the use of a variety of hand and power tools.
