Location: Dartford Job Type: Full-time Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 DOE We are seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant to support our Technical Manager in implementing and maintaining our company's food safety, quality management, and health and safety policies. This role is crucial for overseeing key operational functions, performing audits, managing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Technical Assistant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance food safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Day-to-day of the role:

Maintain and develop the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSMS and QMS), ensuring alignment with industry standards such as BRCGS and customer codes of practice. Review and develop food safety procedures, records, and work instructions. Assist with risk management processes and support the regular review and management of HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP. Track and report business and customer-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to food safety, compliance, and quality, ensuring ongoing performance monitoring. Conduct internal audits as part of the internal auditing programme to assess compliance with food safety, quality, and health and safety standards. Support the technical team in creating, approving, and maintaining raw material and finished product specifications. Prepare for external audits by coordinating with departmental managers to ensure compliance with audit requirements, manage customer audits and visits. Track non-conformances, corrective actions, and preventative actions, and assist with root cause analysis where necessary. Collaborate with the Procurement Team to maintain and manage the supplier approval system. Monitor, trend, and investigate customer complaints, implementing corrective actions to reduce complaints and improve customer satisfaction. Update the company's training matrix to track employee progress and ensure that required training is up to date. Assist in the development of the environmental monitoring programme and ensure adherence to the environmental swabbing plan. Support the Health and Safety Manager in conducting health and safety audits, creating and reviewing risk assessments, and analysing accidents and near-miss incidents.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment. Knowledge and experience of internal auditing. Familiarity with industry Food Safety and Quality Standards, including retailers. Qualifications in HACCP will be an advantage. Excellent IT, communication, and project management skills. Proficient in internal auditing, risk management, problem solving, specification management, audit preparation, data analysis, and KPI reporting.
