To be a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department (ED) working in partnership with the Matron to manage and provide leadership to the nursing team, in the provision of effective clinical and operational leadership across the ED.

To work collaboratively with the Lead Clinician and ED Manager, as well as the wider ED Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), to continuously improve and develop the ED.

Main duties of the job

The senior sister / charge nurse takes overall responsibility and is accountable for all delegated nursing care within the clinical environment. They provide nursing leadership and are accountable for patient, public and staff experience. They will lead, offer expert clinical advice and manage services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective, and compassionate nursing care. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours and is essential they can provide both clinical care to patients.

NMC Registration Degree or relevant experience Minimum of 5 years ED experience

Desirable

Experience in the Emergency Department setting at Registered Nurse Level ALS APLS Experience working with paediatrics

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 3 years Band 6 experience. Mentoring and developing staff Leadership Experience

Desirable

Post Reg Leadership qualification Evidence of Major incident training completion. Demonstrable experience of project management / service improvement.

Essential

Demonstrable knowledge of clinical governance.

Desirable

Significant post Registration experience.
