Our Client: A distinguished and influential non–profit organisation located in London committed to academic excellence, innovation, and fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant.

The Role: The Assistant Management Accountant will support financial decision–making, conduct variance analysis against the budget, and provide detailed commentary for management reports to support the Finance Business Partner. Additionally, they will ensure accurate record–keeping and assist with year–end audit preparations and queries.

Main duties: Support the Finance Business Partner and Senior Business Partner in the month–end process. Prepare and record periodic adjustments, including journals, accruals, and deferrals. Analyse and present financial data for variance analysis and commentary. Conduct detailed analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance. Assist in the preparation and posting of budgets and re–forecasts. Aid in the preparation of statutory accounts and resolve audit–related queries. Review monthly management accounts with budget holders, highlighting variances.

The Successful Candidate: Proven experience in a similar finance role with the ability to manage changing priorities and high–pressure workloads. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the capability to work independently and take initiative. Hands–on experience in financial data analysis and presentation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrable experience in an accounting role within a higher education environment.
