Oxford United Boys Academy are looking to add to their already excellent team of part-time medical staff with the addition of a new Development Therapist to work within our U9-U16 programme. This would be an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist wishing to increase their football experience in a supportive and developmental role. Prospective candidates will be joining Oxford United at an exciting time in the club’s history: with a newly renovated training ground, measurable progress being made toward Category Two Academy status, a new stadium development well underway, and a historic campaign in the EFL Championship. Main purpose of role:
To engage fully with the Academy Therapist Development programme. To carry out midweek evening training and weekend matchday pitch side medical cover for OUFC academy home and away games, as designated by the department and in line with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP). Key requirements:
Minimum of BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy. HCPC or SST accredited practitioner. Up to date Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) qualification. Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally. Confident, self-motivated and able to work under pressure. Ability to work collaboratively with players, parents and staff. Sound knowledge of manual therapy skills and sports rehabilitation. Sound knowledge of injury prevention methods and recovery strategies. Ability to educate, advise and motivate individuals. Preferably experience in an elite sports environment, especially with children and adolescents. Demonstrates up to date knowledge of the current evidence base and implement this within their practice. Candidates must be flexible and be willing to work hours as necessary to carry out their duties. This may include the covering matches and changing of venues at short notice. Candidate will need to perform duties at home match and away match venues, with the possibility of travel abroad, if necessary. A full UK drivers’ licence and access to your own vehicle would be advantageous.
