This role is a full-time permanent position based in either our Wellington or Christchurch Customhouse.
About this role…
Reporting to the Product Manager, Information and Data, this is a critical role in providing the Data and Information team with detailed and validated requirements, customer priorities, underlying customer needs, and business objectives.
The Senior Technical Business Analyst will lead the Data and Information team to support the development of an enterprise reporting platform and provide technical analysis. You will also partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to create and prioritise user stories that align with key IS strategies and Product Roadmaps.

At least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience as a technical business analyst working within ICT solution delivery, ideally in government business intelligence or reporting.
Enterprise data warehouse or Fabric/ Power BI reporting experience.
Hands-on experience with all stages of the product life cycle and all aspects of operational support of business-critical services.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to understand complex challenges/concepts and articulate these in a simplified, easy to understand manner.
The proven ability to work well in a highly collaborative manner.
The ability to work flexibly, delivering change and support across multiple products and services.
Able to adapt to and learn new technologies and methodologies as required. Good knowledge of relevant software development topics, including development languages, databases, methodologies, DevOps, build pipelines, automation, APIs, cloud concepts, as well as an understanding of other related areas such as UX design, product development, networking, security compliance, capacity management etc.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience working within an Agile framework such as Scrum.
Experience as part of a product development team.
Knowledge and experience with key technologies utilised by the Business Intelligence Team (e.g. Azure, Azure DevOps, Fabric).
Qualifications…
A tertiary qualification at least equivalent to Bachelors level e.g. BSC or comparable.

New Zealand citizen
or
New Zealand permanent resident
and be able to obtain and maintain an Organisational Security clearance. A national security clearance to a confidential level is required for this position.
