We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a full time Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner in the Perinatal Service. The Perinatal Mental Health Team is a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Community service that covers the whole of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and short-term treatment of women who are affected by a moderate to severe mental health illness in the preconception, antenatal and postnatal period. As a result of a successful funding bid from NHSE, we are looking to expand the service significantly with the addition of a number of staff. This will enable us to offer access to women with moderate to severe perinatal health difficulties to specialist community care from pre-conception to 24 months after birth. We will also increase access to evidence-based psychological therapies for those offered treatment by the service. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a qualified Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker. They will be required to maintain a clinical case load, fulfilling all the roles and responsibilities of a Care Coordinator. They will work effectively in the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality mental health assessments, treatment programs and manage risk. This work will involve patients and their carers in the delivery of evidence-based interventions/treatments and recovery-focused work. You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to high quality care as well as possessing good therapeutic and interpersonal skills. The post holder will be required to work autonomously as well as within the MDT and other settings. You will visit people in their own homes and communities as well as running clinics at the team base and other community venues. You will have a strong sense of initiative, excellent team working ability and be an excellent communicator. You will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of nursing interventions and community assessment skills. Qualifications or a willingness to undertake training relevant to the post is expected. You will have experience of post-registration work, ideally with this client group.
