Provides scientific support to Diagnostic Radiology including: Assisting the section's work in optimisation of medical exposures. Undertaking quality assurance tests on a range of x-ray generating equipment. Participating in patient dosimetry programmes including the routine patient dosimetry programme. Assisting in radiation and patient safety activities to support these imaging modalities. Calculate information regarding radiation exposure to staff, patients and, if appropriate, their carers. In particular assess the risks arising from ionising radiation and put these into a context that can be understood by patients or carers to provide reassurance. Perform risk assessments to ensure that radiation doses received by staff, patients and members of the public are "as low as reasonably practicable".
