Are you an experienced radiographer looking to showcase your forward thinking and dynamic approach to Non-Medical Referring and delivering Quality of care to Patients?

The post holder will be an experienced Radiographer who will use their clinical knowledge and experience to inform the optimal delivery of Imaging service, and aid the Operational leads in the delivery of a high standard of clinical care.

They will provide professional leadership and management for the development, monitoring and evaluation of the quality, safety and effectiveness of Non-Medical Referring, in order that the highest standards of care in imaging are provided for patients, visitors and staff.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and alterations in hours or times of work may be required from time to time - this will be done with consultation and negotiation. Some weekend and public holiday working will be required alongside contribution to Imaging manager on call.

Main duties of the job

Key stakeholder in devising a robust Non-Medical Referrers database. Upkeep of Non-Medical Referrers Database. Ensuring ongoing training of Non-Medical Referrers. Develop protocols specifying the rationale, nature and scope of non-medical referral practice for each group of referrers. Reviewing existing policies that govern referral criteria for Non-Medical Referrers and writing new policies as the need arises. Actively participating in radiation related audits and preparing necessary action plans. Assisting Radiation Safety Lead (Non-medical) with necessary and relevant workload.

Job responsibilities

Quality and patient safety in relation to radiation protection arrangements within the Imaging Service. Build and upkeep of the Non-Medical Referrers database including implementation of training and competencies for relevant staff. Implementation and maintenance of Non-Medical referrer related procedures and the inclusion of these on the Document Management System. Risk Management (Risk Assessment, Risk Registers, Incident Reporting, IR(ME)R & IRR Breaches). Ongoing and mandatory training including induction training, equipment competencies assessment, installation of new equipment. Audit programme for radiation protection related audits. Review and issue authorisation guidelines. Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) Accreditation.

Person Specification

Education & Training Experience & Experience

Essential

BSc Radiography (Diagnostic), Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent. HCPC Registered. Highly Developed specialist knowledge of radiography. Previous experience of working with Non-Medical referrers/or pathways.

Desirable

Radiation Protection Supervisor - either current or in the past.

Planning and Organisational Skills

Essential

Able to organise a specialist department/area, including workload and staff. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment. Possess Project Management Skills.

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential

Good analytical and problem solving skills. Experience of interpreting data from RIS systems.

Responsibility for Policy/Service Development

Essential

Experience of Implementing and evaluating clinical standards/changes in practice. Participates in reviews of work practices which impact on service delivery to patients and other specialities.
